SH continuosly comes back to the fact that most people can`t think logically, and are tricked by sophistry and sophistical reasoning. He`s never recommended a book, but he loves citing Socrates.

7. Charles Dickens/David Cooperfield Studies in English Literature SHYH has mentioned Uriah Heap at least twice in his speeches (Daajal and the new World Order, Purification of the Heart), once even comparing the Dali Lama to him
8. Chronicles of Narnia My boys read it
9. Coma This book is about Mad Doctors keeping humans alive while they harvest their organs. Sh Hamza made the simily of Europeon powers doing the same to Asian/African countries...keeping them afloat while they harvest their riches/resources.

 Dante lumped `userer` (bankers) in with homosexuals - both are unnatural acts. Back when Christianity still forbade Interest.

1.3. Quadrivium: Theology: Islam: Orientalism

Non-referred anti-Islamic books that Sh Hamza has read to better understand the attack against Islam. These books are not recommended.
1. On Heroes, and the Heroic SHY doesn`t like Mr.Carlyle and doesn`t recommend him. But SHY did read this book and talked about it in the `Call to Dawah` Lecture. Mr.Carlyle is an orientalist that writes terrible things about Islam, and also some good.

In recent years, Sheikh Hamza has lamented on the loss of poetry. He feels this is an important subject, esspecially for the technically inclined
1. `For Those I Taught` By Donald Babcock SHY had his son recite a Babcock poem, as an anecdote to a man wasting his life

3. How to Read a Poem: And Fall in Love with Poetry I asked SHY for an intro to poetry for an engineer. This is what he recommended.
4. Introduction to Poetry: Commentaries on Thirty Poems I asked SHY for a book recommendation on an introduction to poetry. This is what he recommended first.

6. Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow He`s fallen out of fashion, but I really like him.
7. The Blind Beekeeper I don`t get it, but SH called Abd al-Hayy `one of the greatest unknown American poets

9. The Burda of Al-Busiri I asked SHY for an introduction to poetry. This is what he recommended (for Arabic Poetry). He specifically mentioned his notes at the beginning of the work.
10. The Conquering Worm / The Heights SHY said that EAP read The Quran, and quoted from it...esspecially in the Poem, "The Heights". He also recited the poem `The Conquering Worm`
11. The Essential Rumi I arbitrarily picked this book. Rumi`s been mentioned numerous times by SHY

1. The God Disillusion Fascinating. I really recommend it
 This book is an athiest attack against God. SHYs recommendation stems from the great arguments the author uses, which Muslims should think about...but not follow/endorse.

 how the author noted that Islamic organizations wont work together
 I can`t find this book on Amazon.
8. Religion vs Religion True Prophetic religion vs bad religion created by politicians
9. Shamail Tirmidhi An account of every aspect of the Prophet`s life
10. Spiders Sh Hamza read a book on spiders in order to better understand the ayat in the Quran which relates the activities of the Kuffar to the Spider`s Web. This book wasn`t specifically recommended.
11. The Atlantic (Monthly) Not Recommended - Mentioned once about Bernard Lewis and once about another orientalist. Obvious that SHY reads this journal regularly.

13. The End of the Jihad State Speaking on the Ummayad Dynasty
14. The Koran by George Sale SHY owns an original copy of this text from 1734
 It is a reasonably good Quran

On the qualities and facets of Allah. Most of these books are in English, and written by orientalists. Might be better to read Arabic/Muslim ones.
1. Islamic philosophy and theology Someone asked for book recommendations on Theology during this lecture.
 (Watts is an orientalist, but ) He`s fairminded, I dont think he`s a bad person.

1. The Prophetic Invocations Without a Wird, you won`t get spiritual elevation.
 This Wird/book Recommended
 This wird is a healing and prophetic medicine from a doctor of the hearts, Imam `Abdallah al-Haddad, who learned his craft from true scholars of knowledge and deeds, until he himself became a master.

6. Confessions `If you think Christian Theology is dumb, then you haven`t read anything by St Augustine or...`
7. God has a communication problem Not Recommended, but something SHY read, and mentioned.
8. Gospel of Barnabas problematic as the gospel contains many unislamic principles, but useful nonetheless
9. How some people feel about Jesus Brilliant
 Cant find this short story. Its most likely part of a larger collection
11. Losing Moses on the Freeway Sh Hamza recommended this author, and this book.

18. Suma Theologica St. Thomas admits that he took (alot) from Ibn Sina and Imam Ghazali.
19. The Monastic Rules If you think Christian Theology is dumb, you haven`t read...
20. Tolerance An important document because it changed discourse in the West.
21. Treatise on Happiness If you think Christian Theology is dumb, you haven`t read...
 How St.Thomas stole most of his concepts from Ibn Rushd and Imam Ghazaly.

1. Dhammapada : The Sayings of Buddha Even the Dhammapada mentions the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). This translation by Thomas Cleary was mentioned
2. Jewish History, Jewish Religion I would recommend this book to everyone who wants to read it.
3. Jewish Theology An Extraordinary Book
 How traditional Judaism views Islam
 It is accepted within Jewish tradition, that the Prophet Muhammad was a vehicle of divine intervention.
6. The Jews of Islam He records letters from Dhimmi Jews to European Jews telling them to come live under Islamic law...because it was so good.

9. Cambridge History of Islam How the book included a Biography of UmmHani
10. Civil War Book by Shelby Foote Shelby foote was mentioned, not this book in particular.
 "All young men love war stories. Back in my day anyway"
12. Great Short Works of Leo Tolstoy This book Contains a short story called `Haji Murad`. About the great Chechnyan Sheikh.
13. History of Bombing The author speaks of Imam Abu Hanifa as a jurist who spoke against unjust killing (Possibly the first)
 How Imam Abu Hanifa was the first man (in History) to codify the rules of war.
15. History of the Peloponnesian War Penguin Classics I read this a long time ago, but recently reread this book
 On how the arrogance of the Athenians was the root of their downfall
17. Knowledge Triumphant: The Concept of Knowledge in Medieval Islam it`s really a fascinating book -- but one of the things he says in there is that the Islamic civilization was a civilization probably more than any other historically that really was centered around knowledge, the ideal of knowledge.
18. Mecca: From Before Genesis Until Now About the power of the tribes that controlled the Kabba/Mecca area.

20. The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History On how even the Kuffar recognize the greatness of the Prophet.

6. George Washington`s Farewell Address Whether he lived up to it or not, is his business. Not my business. This is truth. He`s speaking truth
 This is the Cherry tree. This is Truth
8. Hobbes: On the Citizen Speaks of human inalienable rights.
9. Islam in the United States of America  
10. Letter from the Birmingham Jail How Christian leaders were mad at Martin Luther for `rocking the boat`
11. Lincoln`s Greatest Speech : The Second Inaugural How the civil war was unfinished business of the War of Independence. (Hey, don`t look at me, I just publish what SHY says)
 He blames the civil war on the sins of the American People; visavis the black people. And people accepted his criticism.

8. The Gulag Archipelago: 1918-1956 How the Chechnyans maintained their dignity in the Gulag.
 Sheikh mentioned Sultan Yeats, and his description of Chechnyan Muslims in the Gulah. I cant find Sultan Yeats, and believe he was referring to this book.
 Sh Hamza quoted from the book in his speech `Making Sense of our Past`

13. The American Spirit Oscar Straus was the US ambasador to Turkey. He had a lot to say about Islam and the Ottoman Empire. SHY mentions him in passing, and his book `4 administrations`
14. Zarruq, the Sufi: A guide in the way and a leader to the truth : a biographical and critical study of a mystic from North Africa SHY loves to quote `Sidi Ahmad Zarruq`. The book `Poor Mans Book of Assistance` is untranslated.

3. Brain Sex : The Real Difference Between Men and Women ...A book you should all read
 The difference between men and women...I dont think there`s any religious significance to this book.
 She has said that it is categorically undeniable now, that there are certain intellectual capacities, in which men supercede women.
 ...and read that book, it`s enlightening. It`s really good
